About Us

scent sanctuary

Bathe was founded in April 2000 by the savvy couple John & Kim Kelly who came up with a great idea to open a store that sells unique natural bath and body products. Within five years of launching the store, Bathe clientele had the opportunity to see the store grow from a handmade soap selling kiosk at the Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego to a wonderful boutique featuring the most exclusive skincare and spa therapy products in the Flower Hill Promenade in Del Mar, California.

August 2005, the Kellys sold the store to Southern California natives, sisters Anjli and Bindi Tantod. Anjli, a graduate of University of California, Irvine handles the financial aspect of Bathe. Bindi, a graduate of University of California, Berkeley handles the buying, selling, and managing of the boutique. While they have kept what the Kellys introduced at Bathe, under their ownership Bathe has expanded its lounge wear selection to include more yoga wear for their clients. Considering Bindi’s fascination with Ayurvedic (Eastern Indian) treatments for the skin and an aspiration to find harmony for the mind, body, and soul, Bathe has a new angle in carrying skincare lines like Sundari. The Tantods have introduced their own line of natural bath and body products with scents developed by Bindi and the help of local vendor, San Diego Natural Soap Company. They also look forward to continuing in the Bathe tradition of experimenting with new avenues of holistic skin and body care.

Bathe’s primary goal is to provide a unique and exclusive environment for its clientele to find overall wellness treatments all at one location, so that they can bring the calmness of a spa and zen moments of a yoga class to their own home. Ultimately, Bathe is not just a store it is a lifestyle with a positive cause in mind; a large portion of the proceeds from Bathe sales are contributed to projects in India that will provide a nourishing environment and education for men, women, and children in India.
